Legalize It: Psychedelic Use In The New Age

Psychedelic Use

If you had the ability to figure out the curing or healing effects of each plant in nature, would you use it for good? A logical person would probably say yes.

Believe it or not, there are still many states in the US that have not yet legalized the medicinal use of cannabis.

On the other hand, current trends are indicating that psychedelics like psilocybin magic mushrooms will start getting decriminalized very soon.

This is because a growing number of studies and psychedelic users are sharing their positive effects and experiences from microdosing psychedelics.

Some frequent users have mentioned that by microdosing they have experienced positive effects for illnesses such as:

Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Addiction
A new outlook on life
Vividness and creativity
Relationship/partner problems
PTSD
Even celebrities like Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson talk about positive experiences with psychedelics.

SHORT HISTORY OF PSYCHEDELICS

If you are new to the magical world of psychedelics, then you must be wondering “what exactly are they?”

According to dictionary.com, the definition for “psychedelic” is a drug-induced mind state where you can achieve a deep understanding of life, along with feelings of heightened physical awareness.

That was the dictionary definition for psychedelic.

Now let’s look at a more intellectual definition for psychedelics.

The use of psychedelics was first romanticized in the 1960s. During a war-torn time, the popularity of psychedelics, music, and art, began to rise among communities of young people.

It was around this time that the famous peace movement became widespread. The peace movement revolved around finding a peaceful resolution to the war, peace, and the use of psychedelic drugs.

Psychedelics that were immensely popular during the 60s and 70s include psilocybin magic mushrooms, LSD/acid, and cannabis.

CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS OF PSYCHEDELICS

Psychedelics have become so popular that even celebrities have begun to rave about their benefits to the world. Mike Tyson and Joe Rogan, both current podcast stars, have made positive comments regarding psychedelics. Rogan is a jiu-jitsu black belt, UFC commentator, and strong advocate for psychedelics. He makes this well known in his Joe Rogan Experience videos.

In 2020 Rogan made headlines when he switched over his popular podcast from YouTube to Spotify for a generous $100 million.

Rogan goes into detail when discussing his experiences with psychedelics and has been on a rampage when it comes to advocating psychedelics.

Mike Tyson, a former professional boxer, has also started a podcast, called “Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.” On his show, he regularly smokes cannabis, speaks about psychedelics, and has deep intellectual discussions with famous guests.

Tyson has even mentioned on his podcast that psychedelics were the reason behind his recent return to boxing.

Even when you disregard all the recent studies that show long-term positive effects of psychedelic use, Tyson’s discussions do make a valid point.

In recent years, the troubled boxer seems to have found peace in his life and speaks as if he is a totally different person.

Summary

It would be smart for countries to start decriminalizing psychedelics because of their widespread benefits. There are simply too many studies that support the use of psychedelics.

It is only a matter of time before we are hit with a movement similar to the legalization of cannabis.
